Prof. Janusz Kacprzyk
Janusz Kacprzyk is Professor of CS at the Systems Research Institute, Polish Academy of Sciences, WIT – Warsaw School of Information Technology, and PIAP – Industrial Institute of Automation and Measurements, in Warsaw, Poland. He is Honorary Foreign Professor at the Department of Mathematics, Yli Normal University, Xinjiang, China. He is Member of the Polish Academy of Sciences and Foreign Member of the Spanish Royal Academy of Economic and Financial Sciences (RACEF). He is Fellow of IEEE and of IFSA.
He was a visiting professor in the USA, Italy, UK, China. His research includes: soft computing, fuzzy logic and computing with words, in decisions and optimization, control, database querying, information retrieval. He is the author of 5 books, (co)editor of 50 volumes, (co)author of 300 papers. He is the editor in chief of 4 book series at Springer, and of 2 journals. He is a member of Award Committee of IEEE CIS and an Alternate Member of the IEEE Fellows Committee.
He received many awards, notably: 2005 IEEE CIS Pioneer Award in Fuzzy Systems, The Sixth Kaufmann Prize and Gold Medal for pioneering works on soft computing in economics, and Pioneer Award of the Silicon Valley Section of IEEE Computational Intelligence Society for contribution in granular computing and computing in words. Currently he is President of the Polish Society for Operational and Systems Research and Immediate Past President of IFSA.

Prof. Nikhil Pal


Nikhil R. Pal is a Professor in the Electronics and Communication Sciences Unit of the Indian Statistical Institute. He has also served as a Chair Professor at the National Chiao Tung University, Taiwan and as a visiting professor at other universities. He has coauthored, edited/co-edited several books. His current research interest includes bioinformatics, brain science, fuzzy logic, image and pattern analysis, neural networks, and evolutionary computation. 
He serves on the editorial /advisory board/ steering committee  of several journals including the International Journal of Approximate Reasoning, Applied Soft Computing,  Neural Information Processing—Letters and Reviews, International Journal of Knowledge-Based Intelligent Engineering Systems, International Journal of Neural Systems, Fuzzy Sets and Systems ,International Journal of Intelligent Computing in Medical Sciences and Image Processing, Fuzzy Information and Engineering : An International Journal,
 and the IEEE Transactions on Systems Man and Cybernetics—B. He has been serving as the Editor-in-Chief of the IEEE Transactions on Fuzzy Systems since 2005. 
He has given many plenary/keynote speeches in different premier international conferences in the area of computational intelligence. He was the president of the Asia Pacific Neural Net Assembly. He was the Program Chair of the 4th International Conference on Advances in Pattern recognition and Digital Techniques, December 1999, Calcutta, India and was a co-program chair of 2005 IEEE International Conference on Fuzzy Systems and 2006 IEEE International Conference on Fuzzy Systems. He was the General Chair of 2002 AFSS International Conference on Fuzzy Systems, Calcutta, 2002 and the 11th International Conference on Neural Information Processing, ICONIP 2004.  
He is a Fellow of the IEEE, USA, a Fellow of the IFSA, and a Fellow of the Indian National Academy of Engineering.

Prof. Okyay Kaynak


Okyay Kaynak received the B.Sc. degree with first class honors and Ph.D. degrees in electronic and electrical engineering from the University of Birmingham, UK, in 1969 and 1972 respectively. From 1972 to 1979, he held various positions within the industry that included 3.5 years in Saudi Arabia, working as a project engineer. In 1979, he joined the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Bogazici University, Istanbul, Turkey, where he is presently a Full Professor. He has served as the Chairman of the Computer Engineering and the Electrical and Electronic Engineering Departments and as the Director of Biomedical Engineering Institute at this university. Currently, he is the UNESCO Chair on Mechatronics and the Director of Mechatronics Research and Application Centre. He has hold long-term (near to or more than a year) Visiting Professor/Scholar positions at various institutions in Japan, Germany, U.S. and Singapore. His current research interests are in the fields of intelligent control and mechatronics. He has authored three books and edited five and authored or coauthored more than 300 papers that have appeared in various journals, books and conference proceedings. Dr. Kaynak is a fellow of IEEE. He is or has served on the Editorial or Advisory Boards of a number of scholarly journals. Currently he is a Co-Editor-in-Chief of the IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics and an Associate Editor of IEEE Sensors Journal and IEEE/ASME Trans. on Mechatronics.Dr. Kaynak is active in internationally organizations, has served on many committees of IEEE and was the president of IEEE Industrial Electronics Society during 2002-2003 and Vice-President (for Conferences) of Computational Intelligence Society during 2004-2005.
